Important Environment Agency Notice: remaining programme timetable

Important Environment Agency Notice: remaining programme timetable

As previously communicated, we encountered a technical problem (now resolved) which delayed the work at Sutton Harbour whilst we investigated the cause and implemented a solution.

The current plan for remaining works in December is:

27/11/2023 to 28/11/2023            Remaining days of no access during 4-day closure.

29/11/2023 to 10/12/2023            Restricted Free Flow Access on weekdays and Full Free Flow Access on weekends.

11/12/2023 to 12/12/2023            2-day closure – no access while the gates are opened and grouting works completed.

13/12/2023 to 18/12/2023            Locking operations outside of working hours.

19/12/2023                                  24/7 lock access to be available.

The current access information is available on www.lockgates.info/lock-access-timetable/

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this change in programme.

We have agreed to look into the possibilities of bringing forward the start of phase 2 from March to January 2024. No decision has yet been taken and we will provide you with an update on this as soon as we possibly can.

Works on the footbridge will run from 3-9 January 2024.  During this time there will be no restrictions on access to the lock and harbour, but the pedestrian footbridge will be closed. The alternative route around the harbour should be used and signs will be put up on each entrance and in the surrounding area.
