Important Environment Agency Notice:
On 26 October we advised that contractors working on the Sutton Harbour Lock Gate repair encountered an unexpected technical problem with the work. We have discovered some discrepancy between the levels of the gates and the cills. Whilst we’re investigating the reason, we’re also implementing a solution by reducing the level of the bottom of the lock around the cill to accommodate the change in levels. We continue to investigate the cause of the issue and what the impacts of the technical problem will be. Contractors will continue with those surveys next week.
The additional works required will need to be reprogrammed and the new dates will be circulated as soon as possible.
Unfortunately this will have an impact and may add a few weeks to the end of the first phase of the works.
We do not have any additional information at this time but will provide you with more detail and timings as soon as we possibly can. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this change in programme.
The current access is available during the freeflow timings sent out in the weekly update on 02/11/2023. This information is also available on www.lockgates.info
